Excellent Room and Venue Hire in Edinburgh
Previously the ‘penny school’ that Robert Louis Stevenson attended as a child, Canonmills Church has been renovated with modern conveniences whilst retaining its historic charm.
The Canonmills Church hall – originally a Victorian school room – is perfect for large events, parties and groups. Our church’s coffee room provides a relaxed environment for smaller bookings.
Whilst church activities take priority, we are excited to be able to open our doors and welcome the public in to make use of our bright and versatile spaces.

Spaces at Canonmills Church
The Church Hall
Canonmills Church Hall is our largest space, able to hold around 65 people seated.
Movable chairs, rather than fixed pews, make the space versatile and able to accommodate a range of events and activities.
The walls and wood floor give the room excellent acoustics and we have a sound system that can be utilised, when booking Canonmills Church Coffee Room as well, that projects a speakers voice throughout the building.

The Coffee Room
Suitable for meetings, seminars and small events, the Coffee Room at Canonmills Church is our smaller, cosier space, that is able to accommodate 8-20 people.
Carpeted to absorb sound, this room lends itself to work, talk and discussion.
West-facing windows allow in relaxing natural light, providing a view of the greenery outside. No roads or buildings overlook these windows, protecting the privacy of those inside.

The Kitchen
Available in tandem with the Church Hall, Coffee Room, or both, the Canonmills Church kitchen is available for preparing and serving refreshments.
The space includes hob/oven, mini-fridge, kettle/water urn, crockery, cutlery and double sink.
There is no extra charge for use of the kitchen, though its use will need to be confirmed at the time of booking.

We use a straightforward pricing structure for letting our Canonmills Church spaces. The Church Hall is £30 per hour; the Coffee Room is £15 per hour; and for both spaces concurrently it is £45 per hour. There is no extra charge for use of the kitchen, though its use will need to be confirmed at the time of booking.
Accessibility at Canonmills Church
There are two shallow steps at the building’s entrance and a collapsible ramp we have makes Canonmills Church wheelchair accessible. Once inside, everything is on one level with no further steps. If the ramp is needed, please inform us when you make your booking.
Our two types of chairs offer guests a choice of sitting with two arm rests or none.

We have an Induction Loop for hearing aid users.
